  3. Although the guys didnt want to give
  4. interviews to Commodore Free magazine
  5. about there product, & as yet they have
  6. refused all interviews from any
  7. magazine. I did manage to ask a few
  8. questions about Prophet 64 cartridge so
  9. here is a brief history of the project

  17. A Well, the idea was to have some brief
  18. info on the 8bv site but it looks like
  19. it wont be up & running until much
  20. later this fall. To ease your curiosity
  21. until then I can give you some quick
  22. facts based on your questions:

  24. Q What gave you the idea to produce a
  25. cartridge with the software, also why
  26. produce such software for what would
  27. call an outdated machine?
  28.  
  29. A Prophet64 was originally the same
  30. program as the free trial mono
  31. synthesizer, created back in 1996. 2004
  32. the software was awakened & released
  33. publicly & after another six months two
  34. spin-off versions had seen the light of
  35. day too. With such a great response the
  36. Cartridge could be realized carrying an
  37. old vision of a C64 sequencer, bringing
  38. the whole thing into the business it is
  39. today.

  41. One could say that the lack of decent
  42. music applications for the C64 platform
  43. prompted this project. It's weird that
  44. the C64, much  remembered for it's
  45. audio, never had any programs developed
  46. that targeted  musicians. (Notice how
  47. the terminology used in our apps are
  48. the same as for commercial synthesizers
  49. & software as opposed to total incomp-
  50. rehensible tech-talk used in numerous
  51. 'trackers').

  53. The usage of this product is probably
  54. dominated by chip-musicians I guess.
  55. Fact is we had never even heard of the
  56. phenomenon until people into the genre
  57. made us aware of it.

  59. There are no production problems. We
  60. have had two interruptions in our sales
  61. so far & they were due to delivery
  62. problems. I can't really get into more
  63. details at the moment; I hope the site
  64. will provide more answers in time. Best
